Top Toys for 2 Year Olds

Most 2 year old children have bags and bags of energy. They need entertainment almost all the time. With this in mind, I've rounded up a list of toys which I believe are fantastic for 2 year olds. The toys will keep them engaged, entertained and amused while also helping them learn and grow as individuals.

Here are my top toys for 2 year olds:

1. Lego Duplo - This is a toy that's been around for years and is still very popular with good reason. The large Duplo bricks are perfect for small hands and they encourage imagination and creativity. The colours are bright and the bricks can also be used to teach colour by sorting them in to colours. As your child grows, you can also add to the bricks to keep your child interested and to provide new challenges.

2. Role play toys - Around the age of 2, children start to indulge in role play and you can give them toys to encourage this. Some popular toys for role play are mini pots and pans, mini tea sets and play food.

3. Arts and crafts - While involved and complicated craft activities will be beyond most 2 year olds, just some basic craft equipment will delight and allow your child to express their creativity. Large crayons with a colouring book and some bright coloured paper with glue will be plenty for them to start learning about drawing and making things.

4. Ride on toys - Children and especially 2 year olds love ride on toys. There are several versions of this toy available so just pick one. If your child is keen on trains, you could get a train ride-on or a car ride-on for a car enthusiast.

5. Books - While books aren't exactly toys, they are essential to encourage a love of reading. And I truly believe that you can never have too many books. Before they can read, children love being read to. And it's a great opportunity to have some fun too. Just put on different voices for the various characters you're reading about and watch your child squeal in delight. Books are also a great way to spend some quiet time with your 2 year old either by reading to him or he can turn the pages and look at the pictures himself.

There are several other toys that 2 year olds would love and can learn from. But the above 5 are the ones I think are the best and most enjoyable.

1 Year Old Toys - Not Just a Child's Play

Toys play a very important role in a child's mental growth during the early years. As a toddler, a one-year old is likely to spend a lot of time playing with toys every day. So, when giving a one-year old a toy on his/her birthday, it is important to consider that the toys should help him/her learn something and also keep him entertained.

Choosing the perfect toy for a one-year old can be quite difficult. However, we have given some great ideas below that can help you choose the perfect toy for a toddler. See if you find anything you like.

1. Squeezable toys - Rubber toys that emit a squeaky noise when squeezed make for excellent baby gifts. Babies can play for a long time with toys like these. They absolutely love the sound. Not only that, all the squeezing can give the baby's tiny hand a good workout, making it strong. Ideal for both physical and emotional development.

2. Teddy bears - Ah, the timeless classics! Babies can hug, squeeze, and even lean on them. Teddy bears are known to provide good entertainment to babies. Babies often consider large sized teddy bears as good friends. This can come in handy in calming them when they are crying for some reason.

3. Plush dolls - These are great gifts for babies. These come in various shapes, colors, and sizes. Animal shapes are probably the best, as these also serve as learning aids in later years. These are available in non-allergic fibers, to ensure that babies can even go to sleep amidst a pile of plush dolls.

4. Acrylic balls - Balls made of non-toxic acrylic can make for great gifts during these early years. All babies need for hours of fun are a bunch of balls and a partner to play with.

5. Alphabet blocks - A set of blocks made of non-toxic plastic, quilted cotton, or acrylic make for excellent gifts. Besides providing wholesome entertainment, these can also serve as the first steps towards learning.

6. Play sets - These can be anything from replicas of farms to kitchen appliances. Sets with small parts should be avoided though, to prevent accidental choking of the baby.

These toys can help a baby stay entertained while also learning something in the process. Gift one today and watch the little toddler giggle with happiness.
